Journal History

The Iraqi Journal of Embryos and Infertility Researches (IJEIR) was established to serve as a beacon of scientific inquiry and clinical advancement in the specialized fields of reproductive medicine and developmental biology within the region and globally.

Foundation and Early Years

IJEIR was officially launched in 2011, publishing its inaugural issue (Volume 1, Issue 1) to provide researchers, clinicians, and academicians a dedicated platform to share their findings.

The journal was founded under the auspices of the High Institute of Infertility Diagnosis and Assisted Reproductive Technologies at Al-Nahrain University, located in Baghdad, Iraq. The Institute recognized the critical need for a specialized, peer-reviewed journal that could document the rapid advancements in Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) and foster collaboration among medical professionals tackling the complex challenges of human infertility.

Growth and Evolution

Since its inception, IJEIR has published consistently, evolving alongside the rapidly changing landscape of reproductive science.

  • In its early volumes, the journal focused heavily on local and regional clinical studies regarding in vitro fertilization (IVF) protocols, semen analysis, and fundamental embryology.
  • As the journal matured, it expanded its scope to attract a broader international audience, embracing modern topics such as molecular genetics, cryobiology, reproductive endocrinology, and the ethical dimensions of fertility treatments.
  • Over the years, the journal transitioned from traditional print-based distribution models to a fully digital, open-access format, significantly increasing the global visibility and impact of the research it publishes.

Modernization

To align with the highest standards of modern international scientific publishing, IJEIR integrated with the Editorial Manager system for streamlined, professional manuscript handling and double-blind peer review.

Today, IJEIR stands as a testament to Al-Nahrain University's commitment to scientific excellence, continuously striving to index its high-quality content in major global academic databases and supporting the worldwide community of reproductive health professionals.
