Authorship

The Iraqi Journal of Embryos and Infertility Researches (IJEIR) requires transparency and accountability regarding who is credited with the research published in our journal. We strictly follow the authorship guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Criteria for Authorship

To be listed as an author, an individual must meet all four of the following ICMJE criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
  2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
  3. Final approval of the version to be published; AND
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Acknowledgments

Contributors who meet fewer than all four of the above criteria should not be listed as authors. Instead, they should be acknowledged in an "Acknowledgments" section at the end of the manuscript.

Examples of activities that do not qualify for authorship alone include:

  • Acquisition of funding.
  • General supervision of a research group.
  • Administrative support.
  • Writing assistance, technical editing, or language editing.

Authors must obtain written permission from all individuals named in the Acknowledgments section.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

One author must be designated as the Corresponding Author during the submission process. The Corresponding Author is responsible for:

  • Managing all communication with the journal during submission, peer review, and the publication process.
  • Ensuring that all listed co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript.
  • Acting on behalf of all co-authors in responding to queries from the editorial office or readers post-publication.

Changes to Authorship

IJEIR strongly advises authors to carefully determine the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript.

If a change to authorship (adding an author, removing an author, or changing the order) is deemed absolutely necessary after initial submission but before publication:

  1. The Corresponding Author must submit a formal, written request to the Editor-in-Chief.
  2. The request must clearly state the reason for the change.
  3. The request must be accompanied by written confirmation (via email or signed letter) from all authors - including those being added or removed - indicating their agreement with the change.

Changes to authorship will not be permitted after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication. Any disputes regarding authorship must be resolved by the authors' institution(s); IJEIR editors will not adjudicate authorship disputes.
