Archiving Policy

The Iraqi Journal of Embryos and Infertility Researches (IJEIR) is committed to the long-term preservation of its digital scholarly content. We understand that ensuring continuous, uninterrupted access to published research is a fundamental responsibility of an academic publisher.

To safeguard the permanent availability of all articles published in the journal, IJEIR employs robust archiving and digital preservation strategies.

1. Primary Digital Archive

All published articles, supplementary materials, and metadata are securely stored on the journal's primary servers. Regular, automated backups of the entire database and file system are performed to prevent data loss due to hardware failures or system errors.

2. Distributed Preservation Networks

To guarantee long-term accessibility even in the unlikely event that the journal operations are discontinued (a "trigger event"), IJEIR participates in recognized international digital preservation networks.

  • Preservation Networks: IJEIR utilizes recognized digital preservation networks. This includes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program to create a decentralized, distributed archive among participating libraries. This ensures that the journal content remains accessible in perpetuity.
  • Institutional Archiving: As a publication of Al-Nahrain University, the journal's content is also securely archived within the university's institutional digital repositories.

3. Self-Archiving by Authors (Green Open Access)

IJEIR strongly supports and encourages authors to self-archive their work. Because all articles are published under a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license and authors retain copyright, authors are explicitly permitted to:

  • Deposit the pre-print, post-print (accepted manuscript), and the final published PDF version of their article in institutional repositories.
  • Upload their articles to subject-specific repositories (e.g., PubMed Central, assuming funding mandates apply).
  • Share their articles on personal websites, academic social networks (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu), and other non-commercial platforms immediately upon publication.

There are no embargo periods restricting authors from archiving their published work. We request only that authors properly cite the original publication in IJEIR when depositing the manuscript elsewhere.
